BSUK coaches facilitate PRO-ACTIVE North London Softball challenge
The first annual summer activity challenge, organised by PRO-ACTIVE North London, was hosted by Southgate Hockey Club on Tuesday, 15 July. The event brought together partners from various sports around the region to play an evening of slowpitch softball.
After an introduction to the rules of the game by BSUK Coaches-in-Residence Stan Doney and Liam Carroll, the six teams were divided into two groups, with games played on two fields. The teams battled through a round robin format consisting of three-inning games, each umpired and pitched by Stan and Liam.
The evening culminated in the top team from each group battling for first place on the Main Field, with a third place place game on Field Two. In a thrilling final, the host team from PRO-ACTIVE North London came out on top.
Following the two hours of games in the sunshine, the evening ended with a barbecue provided by Southgate Hockey Club.
As well as providing a great evening’s exercise and entertainment, the event provided the opportunity for relationships to grow between BSUK and PRO-ACTIVE North London, and for contacts to be made with groups from around the region.
