Charity Trustee

    The English Federation of Disability Sport Operating Company (EFDS OC) is “the Voice of Disability Sport in England” supporting & influencing leisure providers to include provision for disabled people.

    The EFDS OC was established in 2000 to deliver the “Inclusive Fitness Initiative” (IFI). Over the past 7 years the IFI scheme has received over £6 million in grants from various sources including the Sport England Lottery Fund & Department of Health. A further £4 million scheme has recently commenced supported by funding from the National Sports Foundation.

    EFDS OC has a Board of nine trustees, a number of which are now retiring. The Board requires an experienced professional with a sound understanding of financial information, project management. Knowledge of the leisure sector would be desirable. Trustees need to be committed to making a difference for disabled people and have the skills to enhance the board and the project.

    Board Commitments & Qualities:
    •To attend board meetings every 8 weeks (held in Leeds)
    •To attend Finance Sub-Committee meetings every 8 weeks
    •Experience of managing large budgets, external contractors and/or sponsors would be advantageous
    •Experience of driving an organisations strategic direction
    •An understanding of disability and fitness is desirable but not essential
